The North Jiangsu Shipping Department launched a mobile app for the application and payment for ships passing through its 10 locks along the North Jiangsu section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, effective on Monday. After that, ships can conveniently and quickly pass through the 404-kilometer-long canal via the online application and payment, allowing ship owners to enjoy “Internet Plus shipping” benefits.
The free mobile client-terminal app aims to achieve real-time lock information sharing, upgrade service communication capability and improve efficiency of ships passing through a lock. It boasts such functions as electronic application, payment of lock user fees, service assessment, information on wait times to pass through locks, one-button quick service, lock routes, credit records and shipping announcements.
