National University of Singapore’s Suzhou institute wins gold prize

  The Engineering Medical Innovation Global Competition 2017 was recently wrapped up in Taipei of China’s Taiwan region. During the competition, a surgical robot system for throat tumor diagnosis and resection won the gold prize. The robot system was developed by a research team from the National University of Singapore (NUS) Suzhou Research Institute (NUSRI) in Suzhou of East China’s Jiangsu province, according to Jiangsu media on Oct 11.

  The National Taiwan University-sponsored competition is a global event, which focuses on biomedicine-related hot themes including human health, disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment as well as medical imaging and rehabilitation. A total of 19 projects were selected for the final competition this year. The NUSRI project for the competition is titled “Design of self-adaptive flexible throat surgical robot system”.
