2017 Nanjing Marathon will be officially launched on 15th this month. As to the route which is most concerned about, more city landmarks will be included along the route to demonstrate the charm of Nanjing.
Taking advice from the participants, the committee of Nanjing Marathon also reduced the four tunnels on the route to two, trying to improve the runners’ experiences.
First introduced into Nanjing in 2015, Nanjing Marathon has attracted a lot of attention and passion. However, from the first time on, the route of Nanjing Marathon is expected to have more signature buildings and resorts to showcase the beauty of Nanjing to more people.
Having put a lot of advice into consideration, the organizing committee of Nanjing Marathon altered the route last year. Nanjing Olympic Sports Center, Zhonghua Gate, Xinjiekou, the Presidential Palace, the Purple Mountain, Taiping Gate and Xuanwu Lake, more landmarks are taken in to line the route. Covering almost half of Nanjing city, this route fulfills most participants’ dreams and expectations to experience and feel the city to the fullest.
Thismost acclaimed route will continue to serve in this coming 2017 Nanjing Marathon. Hopefully every runner, new or professional, will love this route and get satisfaction.
On the press conference of Nanjing Marathon held last year, Chen Weihong, director of Nanjing Municipal Sports Bureau stated that they re-planedthis route for a better experience of the racers.
Gaoshan with Marathon Organizing Office, General Administration of Sports of China, paid an inspection tour last year and had a field trip himself. A marathon racer, Gaoshansaid in an interview afterwards that thanks to Nanjing Municipal Government, Nanjing marathon participants could have the most beautiful route. He added that experienced in marathon races, he still hates to miss this beautiful route which meanwhile can be a best tourist itinerary to experience Nanjing.
The Marathon track has received critical reviews from runners across the country after the 2016 Nanjing Marathon. The track was awarded "The Most Beautiful and Special Track” conferred by Chinese Athletics Association at 2016 Chinese Marathon Annual Conference. At the same time, Nanjing Marathon also won the title of "Silver Medal Event”.
Alteration: people-oriented
Nanjing Marathon has always been a people-oriented marathon. The alteration of the route this year is aimed to provide a better experience for participants.
A number of runners complained last year that the second half of the marathon was extremely energy-consuming, especially the 4 consecutive tunnels at around 30 kilometers from the start. They hoped that the committee would reduce or even cancel the route that contains tunnels. This year, the organizing committee has reduced the tunnels from 4 to 2 after discussion with the municipal public security department and the transportation department. The revised route has not only reduced the discomfort at the second half of the marathon, but also preserved the beautiful scenery alongside the route. Meanwhile, it has minimized the influence to the city’s transportation.
