Wang Guang’an, a jade-carving master from Yangzhou city in east China's Jiangsu province, recently created a bottle carved into a form based on jade raw material from the Hetian area in northwest China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region. The two sides of the bottle are engraved with miniature scenes along the Silk Road and Maritime Silk Road, according to sources on Monday.

The patterns on the surfaces of the 15-centimeter high bottle are classified into upper and lower parts. The bottle’s upper part, which is about 4.5-centimeters high, has the hollowed patterns, and the two sides of its lower part are carved with windows, in which the miniature scenes of a sailing boat at sea and a camel team in the desert can be seen, respectively.

“Being a hub of the ancient maritime and land Silk Roads, Yangzhou witnessed the history of cultural exchanges between China and other countries along the Maritime Silk Road,” Wang said, explaining his idea to create the artwork.
