An automated external defibrillator in Shanghai.

Two automated external defibrillators were set up at the Sunan Shuofang International Airport by the Red Cross Society of Wuxi city in Jiangsu province on Sept 15. This is the first batch of AEDs to be set up in Wuxi’s public places.

As a type of portable and easily-operable medical device, the AED carries the functions of whole-process smart audio assistance and animated video instructions, which allows ordinary people to easily operate it. This can shorten patients’ rescue time and increase patients’ survival rate by more than 50 percent.

The Red Cross Society of Wuxi City plans to install more AEDs in public places in Wuxi, including subway stations, bus stops and markets.
