To comply with the reconstruction of the Huaihai South Road Bridge across the Huai’an section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Huai’an Water Supply Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu province carried out a project from Sept 5 to 6 to temporarily relocate a water supply pipeline across the old bridge.
As the canal-crossing water pipeline is the only one linking the water supply plant in the south of the city to the urban areas, the relocation of the pipeline would inevitably affect normal water supply in the city. To streamline the process, the water supply plant organized most of its manpower and equipment to complete the pipeline relocation work and resume full function in only 26 hours, four in advance of the estimated schedule.
