A mother and her son from Wuxi city, Jiangsu province have finished their adventurous bike ride from Chengdu to Lhasa after spending 20 days on the 2200-km route during the summer vacation.

Zhou Yuhua, a 8th grader of a school in Wuxi, set off on his bike ride accompanied by his mother on July 18.

With Chengdu as the starting point, they cycled along the Sichuan-Tibet highway over a period of 20 days.

The harsh environment made their cycling adventure much more difficult than they had imaged.

The mother and son duo ventured to climb several high mountains at an altitude of more than 4000 or even 5000 meters. They also challenged themselves by crossing the no man’s land and race against time to travel past the areas with adverse weather conditions.

On August 20, they reached Lhasa five days ahead of schedule.

The mother felt gratified at the adventure which has turned his son into a real man.

Zhou Yuhua has now set up his goal for a bike ride around Taiwan next year.
