The CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee held a thematic briefingThursday in Beijing to publicize its practices in the promotion of innovation-driven transformation and development. Li Qiang, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, gave a detailed introduction on the practices that have been made by the CPC provincial committee. Song Tao, head of the international department of the CPC central committee, delivered a speech at the briefing.
The Stories of CPC, the Practices of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, as the thematic briefing is called, is sponsored by the international department of the CPC central committee.
The CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee was invited to give an introduction to the senior politicians heading visiting delegations of foreign political parties, senior foreign diplomats in China, representatives of foreign chambers of Commerce in China and representatives of transnational corporations in China on its implementation of the new ideas, new concepts and new strategies on state governance proposed by general secretary Xi Jinping.
The CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee was also given the chance to publicize its outstanding achievements and experiences in the vivid practices of innovation-driven transformation and development.
Present at the briefing were representatives of political parties and academics from the USA, Russia, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Romania and the European Parliament as well as senior foreign diplomats and representatives of foreign chambers of commerce and transnational corporations in China.
During his speech, Song Tao noted that innovation is an important force to promote development, and it is the core content and main goal of the development strategies for many countries.General Secretary Xi has repeatedly stressed that reform and innovation are the only way to success during his collection of important speeches, Minister Song said.
Song remarked that since the party's 18thCPC National Congress, the Central Committee of the CPC with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core has put innovation high on the agenda of the national development by vigorously promoting all-round innovation featuring scientific and technological innovation to make China on track for an innovation powerhouse.
Li Qiang briefed the honorable guests on the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee’s implementation of the gist of the important speeches made by General Secretary Xi Jinping and its practices in the promotion of innovation-driven transformation and development by racing against time.
Li noted that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC central committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core has put forth new development concepts featuring innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development by placing innovation high on agenda of the country’s overall development.
The CPC Jiangsu Provincial chief remarked that General Secretary Xi Jinping has pinned great hopes on innovation-driven development in Jiangsu in the hope that Jiangsu will act withthe sense of urgencyby racing against time to realize its innovation-driven development with substantial results.
Over the past few years, we have earnestly studied and carried out the important instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping bymaking in-depth design and promoting positive practice on the basis of the actual situations of Jiangsu to boost over-all innovation with, science and technology as the core, Li Qiang said.
The Provincial CPC chief also remarked that Jiangsu has focused on the creation of industrial technology innovation and the promotion of an advanced manufacturing base to come up with an economic system and development mode highlighting innovation for the making of an innovation-driven growth path featuring Chinese characteristics and Jiangsu distinctiveness.
Among the speakers were Jan Christen Jensen, professor of the University of Uppsala and academician with the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Hun Many, member of the central committee of Cambodia’s ruling Party the People’s Party and chairman of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, and FaridMukhametshin, secretary of political council of the United Russia's Tatarstan branch. They spoke highly of CPC’s innovative concepts for development and the establishment of the mechanism that encourages innovation through reform to come up with outstanding achievements, in particular the successful examples of the innovation and development practices in Suzhou, which has provided valuable experiences for all kinds of political parties from different countries to learn from.
Li Qiang and Song Tao responded to the questions raised by the foreign guests at the briefing. When commenting on the province’s efforts for the promotion of transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry and the province’s strengthening of cooperation with Africancountries for mutual development, Li Qiangbriefed the foreign guests on the province’s developmental advantages in terms its industrial size, scale and the number of hi-tech enterprises.
The CPC provincial chief also elaborated on the province’s active exploration on open-economy and reform in terms of its cooperation with African countries, adding that Jiangsu will step up its efforts for the promotion of international cooperation to turn the province from a manufacturing giant into a world manufacturing power and strive for deepened exchange and cooperation in various fields with African countries through the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Stories of CPC is a series of thematic briefing to greet the upcoming 19th CPC National Congress by highlighting the practices of the CPC regional committees in the promotion of innovation-driven transformation and development.
Shortly after the conclusion of the briefing, Li Qiang and Song Tao attended a roundtable meeting to exchange their views on the enhancement of international cooperation on innovation and the promotion of innovation-driven development in Jiangsu in a dialogue with the guests from the USA, Germany, Japan, Canada and some other foreign countries.
Li Qiangremarked that the achievements of Jiangsu's innovation and development have resulted from the open-economy and international cooperation, which have been placed high on the agenda for the province’s development.
