An 83-year-old man in Haimen County, Jiangsu province has been hailed as a GoodSamaritan for his brave act to save a drowning boy. Let’s take a close look.
It all happened on January 25, 2016, in Xinmin village, Yuelai town, where a 15-meter-wide river was frozenin the icy temperatures.
Three kids were seen playing by the river when all of a sudden the ice sheet cracked. 9-year-old Xu, one of the boys, was unable to come to a quick stop and fell into the two-meter-deep ice hole.
CaiJianbang, the 83-year-old man, happened to be staying very close to the accident site. He dashed forward to break the ice sheet and swam towards the boy.
It was not long before he reached the drowning boy whom he held up with one arm before beginning to get out of the iced water.
Cao, however, was blocked by the ice sheet due to the heavy overcoat he was wearing which had got soaked and became even heavier.
He was about to collapse when some people nearby dashed over to the site after hearing his yell for help.
Due to the timely rescue, the boy was finally unhurt.
