iSING! ---Grand Finale at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre

  Attracting a lot of attention, the closing concert of iSING International Young Artists Festival was held on August, 27th. After a 35-day vocal training, 43 young singers from 15 countries including America, Australia, Italy, France, etc. gave the grand finale at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre.

  Two distinctive parts made up the excellent performance. Classic comedy opera in one act by Giacomo Puccini---Gianni Schicchi was performed in the first half. Selections of The White-Haired Girl, Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy and several popular Jiangsu folk songs consisted of the second half. The concert ended with the performance of From Mo Li Hua to Turandot. The finale is performed every year by young singers from different countries, thus completing a full stop for the festival. Compared with the previous closing concerts, this concluding concert added more brilliant multimedia scene switches and left impression on novel lighting, clothing and scene props. In addition, the joint performance of Taking Tiger Mountain By Strategy by Suzhou Symphony Orchestra became a big spotlight.

  iSING! International Young Artists Festival is the first-ever festival dedicated to the vocal arts in China. Since the first session in 2014, iSING! has offered a unique opportunity for Western singers to explore the new and exciting opera scenes in China. The 2017 iSING! Festival is held in Suzhou from July 25th to August 29th; whereas the performance scheduled on August 29th is held at Jiangsu Centre for the Performing Arts. This year, 43 vocalists from 15 countries across three continents are chosen through competitive auditions to undergo the one-month long, life-changing program in Suzhou. What’s more, to make the concert and performance more easily accepted by ordinary citizens and civilians, these artists have also participated in the summer concert in Suzhou Museum, citizen concert of Chinese and western classics, as well as the performance in CBD buildings in Suzhou Industrial Park. In the future, iSING! will endeavor to cultivate young artists with international horizons and overall art qualities for China and the world.
