Mudun Island, located in Sihong County, Suqian City, is the only inhabited island on Hongze Lake. Its unique geographical location and historical background nourish the fisherman's food culture of Mudun Island.

Fried cakes and fish is a famous fisherman's specialty, with different kinds of fish stewed in a pot and prepared dough placed at the edge. While this dish is simple in its cooking method, it is crispy, fragrant, fresh and tender, and has become a homely dish of fishermen on Hongze Lake.

Clear-water crayfish are cooked with just water and no artificial flavor. This ensures the original taste and flavor stays the same, as well as the natural nutrient elements of the crayfish.

Fishermen on Mudun Island cultivate robust juvenile crabs by adopting high-efficiency ecological aquaculture mode and reducing the aquaculture density. The crabs are large and fleshy.

Red-yolk duck eggs of Mudun Island are also laid by green-billed ducks and sheldrakes, which are unique on Hongze Lake. Compared with other duck eggs, the egg white of red-yolk duck egg is more tender and delicious with faint scent, and the egg yolk is olier.
