The iSING Puccini Fest Summer Concert was held in Suzhou Museum on August 5th. Young artists from China and abroad staged a brilliant performance.
The Puccini Fest Summer Concert is one of the many shows from the iSING International Young Artists Festival. The festival is held in Suzhou for the fourth time. It is the only art festival in China that’s dedicated for opera, which will be followed by a series of concerts in both Suzhou and Nanjing. A total of 43 young singers from 15 countries will spend one month training and performing in Suzhou from July 25thto August 29th, together with 13 world-class musicians.
As one of the young artists, Jose Rubio, a baritone from the U.S., has come to perform at iSING more than once. He said singing Chinese songs like “The Moon Represents My Heart” is a challenge as well as a brand new experience to him.
Rubio, Young Artist from the U.S.: So the first time I came three years ago, there were all these beautiful music I never heard before. So I want to come back and explore more of the repertoire. We are trained to learn all these different languages and everything. This is the one we haven’t encountered before. So it’s really nice to have something completely new that we get to work on and have fun learning.
Fifteen outstanding young artists including Rubio performed at the Puccini Fest Concert. The astounding concert pictured the blending and collision of the oriental and occidental cultures. Numerous audience were deeply impressed by the penetrating voices of the young artists.
