Province’s hi-tech sector posts steady growth in H1

  East China’s Jiangsu province increased its investment in the first half of this year on hi-tech industrial projects that promise future growth potential to foster new growth engines.

  After years of industrial restructuring, the province’s continuous investment in the hi-tech sector has paid off, as is evidenced by the hi-tech results achieved in the first half of this year.

  Latest statistics show 7 of the 11 new industrial products surveyed in the first six months of this year posted double-digit growth. The output of Internet servers, 3D printers and industrial robots increased 95.4%, 82.6% and 82.2% from a year ago.

  The province’s hi-tech output value increased 12.7% year on year in the six-month period, much higher than the rate of 8% last year.

  Emerging industries of strategic importance saw their sales volume surge 12% from a year ago.

  In the meantime, Jiangsu has continued to attach importance to the acceleration of industrial clustering for growth momentum through the promotion of mass entrepreneurship and innovation. Its number of patent grant and incubators continued to take the lead in the country.

  Spearheaded by large investment projects and the layout of front-end technology, Jiangsu has launched 412 large industrial investment projects at the provincial level since the start of this year with 90% of them starting construction by the end of June.

  Jiangsu Lantian Aerospace Industrial Park has signed a strategic cooperation agreement Airbus Poland on the manufacturing of four-seat business airplane, amphibious aircraft and agriculture and forest firefighting airplane in Nantong city in the next half of this year.

  Yixing, Jianhu, Zhenjiang, Suzhou and Nantong have stepped up their efforts for the launch of their aviation and aerospace projects.

  Two thirds of the newly invested industrial projects are centered on emerging industries and the hi-tech sector, as is evidenced by the investment of 370 billion yuan on hi-tech industry in the first half of this year, up 10.8% year on year. The rate of growth is 3.4 percentage points higher than the entire investment and 8% higher from a year ago.
