West End musical The Bodyguard, based on the 1990s film starring the late Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, is due to be staged at Nanjing Poly Grand Theater from Aug. 22 to 27.
Melody Thornton and Stuart Reid are to take on the lead roles in the stage show in Nanjing.
The Bodyguard tells of Frank Farmer, a former secret service agent-turned-bodyguard who is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker.
It has given Houston one of the biggest-selling singles of all time with I Will Always Love You.
The musical, which premiered at London's Adelphi Theatre in 2012, features many of Houston's greatest hits, including I'm Every Woman, Saving All My Love, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You.
The musical has proved to be a smash hit while touring the world. Its touching plots, fascinating music, dazzling set design and as many as 400 costumes have made it a success.
