Li Qiang, chief of the Jiangsu provincial CPC committee, called for further efforts in the province’s drive for deepening reforms during a speech on Monday.
Li, head of the province’s leading group for deepening overall reform, made the remarks at the group’s 24th session.
Participants at the session watched a TV documentary Carrying Forward the Reform to the End before being briefed on the implementation of the pilot program for rural land reform in Wujin district，Changzhou city and deliberated on the reform plans.
Li Qiang reiterated that reform is the only deep and forceful stimulus that has a long-term effect on the promotion of the social and economic growth.
He also called for steadfast adherence to the reform and opening-up policy as the crucial step for propelling social and economic development, adding that the perseverance in the correct reform methodology is of great significance for snatching genuine priorities and endeavoring in pragmatic way in the promotion of the reform through the creation of a favorable atmosphere and the boost of the reforms through joint efforts.
Wu Zhenglong, deputy chief of the provincial CPC committee and acting governor of Jiangsu, attended the session. Wu is also deputy head of the province’s leading group for deepening overall reform. Senior officials of the leading group and government departments were also present at the session.
The participants exchanged their views during the discussions on the TV documentary Carrying Forward the Reform to the End. Li Qiang and Wu Zhenglong made important speeches during the discussion.
The participants reached a consensus on the documentary’s role on the rethinking and summary of the overall reform in a panoramic way, adding that the documentary has served as a mobilization order to call for further reforms, which is therefore of ideological, theoretical and practical significance.
