  Osmanthus rice cake (guihuagao)

  Osmanthus rice cake is a sweet snack popular in Jiangnan area. The cake is a mixture of osmanthus flowers and glutinous rice flour, creating an unctuous sweet treat.

  Rainbow pie (Caihongxianbing)

  This unique treat contains all natural ingredients and all colors of the rainbow. Green vegetable juice, pumpkin, and purple sweet potato are all blended with glutinous rice flour creating a smooth texture and robust flavor.

  A children's favorite in Zhouzhuang, youji, or oil chicken, is a crispy fried pastry made with flour and sesame. It gets the name because it shapes like a rooster comb.

  Douhua (tofu pudding)

  In northern China, douhua is often eaten with soy sauce, thus resulting in a savory flavor, while in the southern part of China, it is served with sweet toppings including cooked peanuts and adzuki beans. Visitors to Zhouzhuang are able to try both of them.

One of its prominent features is its green-dyed dough, which is made by mixing the juice extracted from the fresh grass in nearby fields. You can still smell the grassy fragrance as you bite into the tasty cakes.
