  • Pleione humilis [Photo by Jin Xiaohua/For chinadaily.com.cn] A new list of Wild Plants under the State Priority Protection was jointly released by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on Wednesday. A total of 455 species are covered on the new list. Of them, 54 species including Qiaojia pine and taxus were included at the top protection level while another 401 species including Fritillaria and Danxia orchid were included in the second protection level.

Compared with the previous version, 268 new species were added. Of them, many belong to the orchid family. A combined 35 plants were removed from the old list, mainly because of China's effective conservation over the past decades.
