East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to ensure a flying start for social and economic development in 2024. JSBC has the story.

The construction team completed the construction of the 2497th reinforcement pile for the south anchorage of the north channel of the Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge on Wednesday, 60 days ahead of the planned time.

The CCCC Road Construction project team firmly inserted 2497 pile foundations made of a mixture of cement and soil into this approximately 6000 square meter soft area, and reinforced them into an anchor body that can stably bear a weight of 500 thousand tons.

The deep foundation reinforcement of the South Anchorage has laid a solid foundation for the next step of the project construction.

“In the next step, we will start the excavation of the anchor pit, lining construction, and cap beam construction, and then proceed with the construction of the top plate, bottom plate, and core filling of the anchor foundation,” said Zhu Xiaoliang, Deputy Chief Engineer of A3 Section of Zhangjiagang- Jingjiang-Rugaogao Yangtze River Bridge.

The Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge is expected to open to traffic in June 2028 to further shorten the travel between Nantong, Suzhou, and Taizhou.

After two years of trial operation, the north-south highway connection project of the Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge, the first "future expressway" in China, passed the acceptance inspection on Wednesday and was officially delivered for operation.

The approximately 33 kilometer long connecting line starts at the Zhengyi hub where the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway intersects with the Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway, and ends at the Dagang hub where the Taizhen Expressway intersects with the Jiangyi Expressway.

5G communication technology will bring drivers a safer and faster driving experience.

“We set fog induction lights at the edges of each lane, and once there is heavy fog, it will automatically sense the distance between the front and rear vehicles. When the drivers see that the front light is red, they must drive slowly. We have also embedded heating pipes on the bridge deck to ensure that the bridge deck will not freeze when vehicles pass through on snowy days,” said Li Hongtao, Commander in Chief of the Wufengshan Connection Project Construction Headquarters.

The lifting construction of steel box girders for the Longtan Yangtze River Bridge has begun. The construction of the north tower section of the bridge has been completed, and the steel beams of the north approach bridge are expected to be erected this month.

The Longtan Yangtze River Bridge, which will facilitate residents in their travel from Yizheng to Nanjing Lukou Airport, will be of great significance for promoting the integrated development of Nanjing, Zhenjiang, and Yangzhou.
